Blue House Bistrò
The narrow streets of Birgu recently welcomed a new restaurant to its quarters, Blue House Bistrò. A quaint and secluded eatery away from the hustle and bustle of city life and a step into the tranquility of the three cities where a peaceful dining experience will take centre stage. the open courtyard is ideal for al fresco dining where crawling plants adorn the old Maltese stone and reach the overlaying balconies above; the rattling of the kitchen in faint earshot, ensuring to- order dishes are prepared for the bistro’s esteemed guests. With live jazz music on select days of the week, the atmosphere is serene and welcoming while the servers are friendly and detail oriented.
The menu at Blue House Bistrò is ample and creative, with staples such as their crispy popadom served artisanal bigilla, beetroot yoghurt, hummus and sundried tomato pesto for starters or the seabass roll with crushed pistachios and winter ratatouille for mains. Choose from the ample wine list to bring out the best of your dishes, a local nexus or Italian Gavi might do the trick. Other dishes on the menu include homemade pastas with slow-roasted duck mince, a classic seafood stew as well as vegetarian dishes including polenta with cheese fondue and mushrooms. Desserts include panna cotta with pistachio and fried Venetian custard slice – a true nod to the Italian kitchen.
