The three chefs at Rendez-Vous were working at Michelin starred restaurants in the uK when the Covid 19 pandemic began. Upon returning to Gozo, they teamed up with local restaurateur Manuel Xerri to produce this new, high-end dining venue in Xewkija’s village square. Tables are housed in a modern, glassed first-floor room with an open terrace enjoying magnificent views of the church. The well-staffed team is both attentive and friendly. Upon arrival, uniformed waiters unfurl your napkin and present you with a glass of prosecco, setting the scene for a pampering and leisurely experience.
The menu changes every two to three weeks, focusing on seasonal produce and allowing the chefs to run with their creativity. From the outset, their unusual amuse-bouche paints a picture of contemporary and playful cuisine with its mix of flavours and textures. Starters may include the pumpkin risotto with toasted seeds and creamy ricotta or the rabbit liver and foie gra parfait. Mains may include pork cheeks, New Zealand lamb, or fresh lampuki. Vegetarians and vegans have their own menu whilst the creations of a dedicated pastry chef concludes your meal with temptations such as chocolate and pistachio tart with chocolate ganache, nougatine and pistachio ice cream, or a vegan aerated chocolate mousse.
