Legligin
Malta has so much to offer but its cuisine is frequently overlooked and rarely mastered. Legligin elevates and showcases sublime Maltese dishes paired with thoughtfully selected local wines that inspire with every bite. The attention to detail is impeccable – from presentation to service and the setting feels warmly rustic, with mismatched crockery adding to its authentic farmhouse allure, perfectly encapsulating a national style. Ever-changing, the menu fluctuates on seasonal availability at the daily market yet consistently remains true to traditional roots. Service staff offer engaging insights into each dish and the vineyard behind every wine with knowing warmth and depth.
A typical dinner menu consists of seven dishes, each more impressive than the last. A Tapas of local sausage, Ġbejna with a tangy chutney, Tapenade and Gnocchi set the tone with bold, comforting flavours. An Aljotta fish soup and Brungiel, a tender aubergine stuffed with meat, followed beautifully, all served with style and panache. A meaty pasta dish with pork cheeks appears and seconded by a typical rabbit dish, garnished with potatoes steamed in fennel and garlic. A perfect combination packed with warmth and flavour. Desserts are a choice but limited. A divine créme brûlée catches attention, but the Pudina, Malta’s beloved bread pudding, certainly steals the show. A smaller lunch menu of 5 dishes is served daily. Wine paring, whilst recommended, isn’t compulsory, but you would be missing out!
