Enchanté Restaurant
Enchanté sits on the lovely Senglea promenade. Given Malta’s mild-climate, lunch or dinner by the water’s edge as the fresh breeze sweeps up from the sea is often a viable option. During summer, large parasols protect from the unforgiving Maltese sun. During winter — particularly on rainy days — the covered outdoor area has its own charm as heavy drops of rain pummel the enclosure, creating a quasi hypnotic rhythm that eases the mood. the architecture is typical to the three cities with their honey-coloured stone, but with a touch of the contemporary.
The menu at Enchanté is packed with exciting choices. Unless you’re dining alone, it’s recommended that you mix and match so as to savour as many of the delicacies as possible. Gillardeau oysters, red king prawns, breaded and fried gbejna with mango chutney and walnuts, fresh marinated anchovies on toast, rabbit livers shallow-fried in garlic, onions, herbs and wine — you’ll want to try them all. If you have the octopus, keep some bread handy as you’ll be digging into that tasty sauce. Mains cover the whole gamut — pork fillet in a blue cheese sauce, ribeye, chicken pistachio, crusted salmon, even an angus beef burger. But Enchanté really shines with its fresh fish offerings, prepared simply and respectfully for maximum flavour. A delightful homemade dessert makes for the perfect conclusion, so be sure to try the Tiramisu or the Cannoli.
