Frutti di Mare
With pavement-side seating and a fantastic view across Marsaskala Bay, this compact eatery serves first-class dishes from a daily catch of fresh fish and crustaceans. Snugly positioned on the waterfront within a busy restaurant stretch, it’s easy to overlook—though doing so would mean missing some expertly prepared and beautifully presented seafood. An overhead awning and enclosed sides protects diners from the elements and outdoor heating ensures a comfortable experience. The menu features seafood, pasta, and creative combinations, complemented by daily specials inspired by the daily catch. Wines are local and international featuring excellent vineyards.
An array of crunchy breads, Bigilla, stuffed olives and sundried tomatoes is presented as you ponder the menu. A range of Crudo and Antpasti starters include fresh Scallops, seared and caramelised in rich Thermidor sauce. The Gamberi Rossi is an artwork with rubyred shelled prawns on a bed of wakame, stracciatella and garnished with pomegranate, mango and caviar. Totally perfect. Main courses of fish, octopus, mussels and clams come in in imagintive combinations. The Involtini di Branzino, seabass fillets snuggly wrapping shelled king prawns in a zesty lemon broth is not only visually stunning, but also beautifully tender. Linguine with half a lobster shines from the specials menu, irresistibly tempting. For those committed carnivores, fine cuts of steak feature with creative flair. There is a pronounced focus on local cuisine, whether it is the freshest fish or a variety of traditional dishes. Desserts are homemade daily, and the Banoffee, creamy and indulgent, is particularly recommended.
