Ostrica
Ostrica is in the original Il-Gillieru building which has been around for close to 100 years and is remembered by many with fondness and nostalgia. Besides the spacious indoor area, the large restaurant has outdoor seating in the front, at the side and at the back overlooking the beautiful deep blue Mediterranean Sea and commanding stunning views of St Paul’s Island. Three sides of the restaurant are glass allowing patrons to enjoy the splendid vista before them. Ostrica offers fine bistro dining serving a variety of local dishes with the majority of its produce being locally sourced. It is part of a group of restaurants which include MUÅ»A restaurant, Michelin-recommended Grotta Tavern and Bottegin Palazzo Xara.—¯
Ostrica is a treat! Start off with a signature cocktail followed by wine of your choice. Try to resist warm bread with tangy sundried tomato dip followed by prawn crudo and paper thin crudi of tuna, salmon and swordfish with dollops of caviar. Enjoy crunchy Cacio e Pepe Arancini and crisp Lamb Croquettes with tzatziki dressing. Devour divine al dente Rabbit Garganelli in homemade cherry tomato sauce topped with crumbled goat’s cheese. Witness the skilful and flamboyant demonstration of the flaming Seabream al Sale being carefully deboned and served together with delicious roast potatoes. Finally, indulge in a gooey Chocolate Fondant with creamy pistachio ice-cream, a coffee and a liqueur. —¯
