Tal-Barklor
Tal-Barklor, meaning “The Boatman” in English, is a homely restaurant offering Maltese and other dishes, nestled on Senglea waterfront. With a cosy indoor dining area and an outdoor terrace, the restaurant offers additional spacious seating area across the road, under large umbrellas right by the water’s edge. From here, diners can enjoy stunning views of colourful Maltese luzzus to luxurious yachts, with the historic Birgu buildings forming a picturesque backdrop across the water. A staple in the area for years, Tal-Barklor brings years of culinary expertise to the table. The friendly and attentive staff ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere, while authentic dishes, generous portions, and reasonable prices keep guests coming back for more.
Tal-Barklor’s menu celebrates the best of Maltese and Mediterranean flavours, offering a wide variety of dishes to suit every palate. Traditional favourites like rabbit, octopus, snails, and horsemeat share the spotlight with an excellent selection of crisp, golden pizzas, hearty pastas, grilled meats, chicken dishes, burgers, and fresh salads. For starters, try deep-fried chicken and cream cheese spring rolls with garlic mayo from the specials, or crispy breaded cheeselet drizzled with honey and cranberry sauce. Signature mains include penne Maltese with local sausage and sun-dried tomatoes, or tender fillet steak in a rich pepper sauce, served with roast potatoes and grilled vegetables. Finish your meal with warm imqaret and honey or creamy ħelwa tat-Tork ice cream.
