Terrone
At Terrone, you can let your imagination run wild and feel the presence of age-old stories, myths and glorious galleons from Malta’s colourful history. Situated inside Fort St Angelo, in Malta’s old city of Birgu (Vittoriosa), Terrone is a haven of peace and good food. The restaurant’s interior was carved out long ago from Malta’s golden coloured limestone. The vault it is housed in has been transformed into a comfortable and intimate dining area. The outside area is at sea level in a sort of lagoon around the base of Fort St Angelo, giving diners a cosy feeling in a place of grandeur.
The cuisine at Terrone is as interesting as the history it is imbued with. Chef Patron Adrian and his team conjure up gems of gastronomy. Rich in Mediterranean flavours, hues and ingredients, the menu changes often. Freshly-caught fish, shellfish and local produce including delicious oyster mushrooms, are regularly available. Appetising meat and vegetarian dishes are also on offer. Choose the local octopus, sea urchins, calamaretti (baby squid), prawns, cuttlefish, and clams in whatever dish they are available. For mains, local fish is recommended for its tastiness. The wine list is extensive while desserts are an absolute treat. Conclude with their homemade gelati for a sweet finish.
