Tmun Restaurant

Tmun is a long-established, family-run restaurant in the boat yard area of Mgarr harbour. It consists of a traditionally styled indoor dining room and an additional glassed area at the front from where you can watch the ferry coming and going. For foodies however, the best view here is inside by the semi open kitchen, where you can see chef Paul Buttigieg and his all-local team at work. Front of house, you’ll find service here efficient yet friendly, and the atmosphere a fairly informal mix of locals, tourists, couples and groups, many of whom are guaranteed to be repeat or regular patrons.

Paul’s menu is perhaps the most creative you’ll find in Gozo, and the quality of ingredients matches the international standards to which he pushes his dishes. Many of the menu influences are traditionally Mediterranean, and there is a particular focus on local seafood such as the Wreck Fish or Fish Duo. However, Paul’s love of herbs, spices and Asian flavour combinations see many favourites revisited and elevated. Plating is beautiful, and even the side vegetable dishes have been carefully considered. Do leave room for dessert as there are outstanding options, even for vegans and people with dietary restrictions.
