The Pram

Years ago, when large supermarkets weren’t around and the most popular food eaten, grew in the fields, each village had their own ambassador to promote the seasonal ingredients available. Most of the time, this ambassador was an older lady whose family owned fields or animals. She would meticulously roam around the village in a repurposed pram that would serve as her food truck.

The pram would contain fruit and vegetables usually grown and harvested by her family members. Olives, capers or even cheeselets (ġbejniet) made from their own goats’ milk, would form part of her selection.
Villagers were spoilt, since the produce would arrive fresh to their doorstep, directly from the fields, and consequently be proposed to the rest of the family for a hearty lunch or dinner.

The Pram pays homage to the dedication of these women who were instrumental in bringing fresh food and ingredients to the table. They were also a common denominator amongst the village, hence propagating a cherished sense of community.

This neighbourhood restaurant aims to bring guests the treasured feeling of gathering, whether with family and friends or with other diners who happen to be there.
The Pram is dedicated to preparing quality, hearty food using local ingredients, and looks forward to serving guests in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
