AYU_thetravellerskitchen

A "lovely experience" with "delicious food and awesome decor".

Ayubowan is a Sri Lankan salutation meaning: ‘We wish you long life and prosperity!’ As you walk into the restaurant you are greeted by an immense fresco painted by a local artist, intertwining local views of Gozo with views of places which can be anywhere from your imagination! Ayu offers a roomy eating space with lots of luscious green plants giving you the feeling that you may really be someplace else! Its relaxed, understated modern atmosphere with polished cement floors and bare limestone ceilings invites you to sit back and enjoy the music and the original food from around the world. The owners are passionate about travel and they comb the world for authentic new recipes to bring back and share with locals and avid travellers alike, whilst adhering rigorously to the indigenous taste.

Ayu offers a vast menu with a huge variety of dishes to suit all tastes, and everything is made from scratch in-house. Sharing is highly encouraged here! Try tender Srilankan Black Pork Curry with goraka paste and pandan and curry leaves, Cumin Lamb Noodles, Moroccan Chicken Bastilla, Tacos al Pastor, or Andalucian Carrillada de Cero. Sip delightful original cocktails such as Orchard Spice with apple cider and cinnamon or Pisco Sour with Pisco from Peru and Chile. For dessert, try to keep some space for the divine Chocolate Cookie and Mascarpone Cheesecake.
