Naan Bar
Valletta’s gastronomic reputation continues to excel. Naan Bar – a modern Indian restaurant and cocktail bar – is a welcome addition. A short hop from the seafront, it’s split over two floors, each with individual characteristics. At street level there is a bar with casual seating, with downstairs being more formal, with upholstered armchairs and a cultivated ambience. Fantastic cocktails that infuse local produce are a must. The ‘Love a Pear’ with gin, pear cider, Gozitan honey, and cinnamon is outstanding! Brilliant staff are attentive, helpful and super knowledgeable and a great international wine list complements the experience!
A diverse and creative menu with starters like the aloo tikki, pan fried potato, sweet yogurt, tamarind and coriander chutney is popular. Skewers of lamb and chicken, blended with herbs and spices, melt in the mouth. Slow cooked main courses are all great. The kashmiri lamb shank Rogan Josh with chili and yoghurt is an excellent selection, and the char-grilled butter chicken with creamy tomato gravy is exceptional. Vegetarian options are available and the broccoli tikka masala or mushroom matar tick all the right boxes. Predictably, Naan breads are a great accompaniment and the peshwari naan with nuts and dried fruit is exceptional. There are also various biryani, aromatic rice and sublime lentil dishes, all with a modern twist. A focused dessert menu presents various ‘art’ pieces to behold.
