Sicilia Bella
Situated in Mgarr just a few metres from the marina waterfront, Sicilia Bella feels like a traditional harbour restaurant. There are year-round indoor tables here (the structure has open side in summer) but if you’re seeking the holiday vibe of a leisurely lunch with views across the yachting marina, pull up a chair under a parasol at one of the outdoor tables right at the water’s edge. As well as boats or ducks you might even spot a local horse taking a swim! Tight on time or working around the ferry schedule? It’s worth noting that due to the style of dishes on the menu and the efficient staff, the time between ordering and eating is surprisingly fast.
In a row of Mediterranean restaurants, Sicilia Bella focuses on the dishes and flavours of Sicily, complimented by a few Italian classics. Starters feature Sicilian specialities such as arancini, caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella, and fried ragusano cheese. There are meat mains including lamb shanks and ribeye steaks, but being so close to the water it’s fish and seafood that star here, presented as seafood platters, mixed grills, fritti or tartare. Pasta lovers are spoilt for choice too, with a range of seafood pastas including spaghetti al sapore di mare (with shellfish, calamari, and prawns in a tomato sauce) and the ever-popular Spaghetti Lobster.
