Tal-Familja
In the order of restaurants on the island, Tal-Familja is rather like an elder statesman. The venue is bright and cheerful and you’ll be entertained, certain of enjoying the best and the finest. Daniela Calleja Preca is in charge of the culinary arts, and her passion in the creation and preparation of amazing dishes is undisputed. The original Maltese paintings, golden coloured tablecloths and rustic feel of the place add to the welcoming atmosphere. The huge free car park opposite the restaurant guarantees you’ll always find a parking spot when visiting Tal-Familja.
Tal-Familja specialises in Mediterranean and Maltese cuisine and is considered one of the best seafood restaurants on the island. Produce is sourced locally, where possible from markets, suppliers and local fishermen. For starters select the freshly shucked oysters, the octopus salad in garlic and olive oil, or the fresh marinated raw langoustines. Mains include filleted seabass simmered in wine, garlic, leeks and tomatoes, along with a vast selection of fresh catch of the day fish and seafood specials to intoxicate and delight. For non-fish eaters there’s the 275gr grilled New Zealand fillet of beef with garlic butter and herbs, and a roasted French rack of veal with herb crust and sweet red wine onion sauce. For dessert you must try their classic sherry trifle or chocolate hazelnut pudding.
