Onella – where every glass of wine tells a story

Situated in a 19th century Palazzino in the heart of Naxxar, right next to the Parish Church Onella has already established itself as a destination for food and wine enthusiasts alike.  The brainchild of the Grech family who run Fernando Gastrotheque, the Michelin starred restaurant in Sliema,  Onella recently underwent some significant upgrades, including renovations in the kitchen and the launch of a new menu

The emphasis of the Onella experience is on food sharing.  The chefs source the best ingredients for all the dishes, most of which are sourced locally. Only artisan cheeses and salumi go into the Onella Platters. One of the signature dishes at Onella is the homemade Focaccia.

The extensive wine selection, featuring over 200 bottles from around the globe, ensures that there’s something to suit every palate and occasion. The use of Coravin technology to serve 50 different wines by the glass is a testament to their commitment to providing guests with the best possible wine experience, allowing for sampling a variety of wines without committing to a full bottle.

The attention to detail, such as serving wines in Riedel grape-specific glassware and decanters, further elevates the dining experience, enhancing the flavours and aromas of each wine. And for those who prefer cocktails, the large selection ensures there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
