Bastion Bar and Restaurant

Wandering around the gardens of the Hotel Phoenicia is absolutely captivating. At the far end one comes across the pool area, and in the warmer months (weather permitting and best to check regarding availability) the Bastion Bar & Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Dining while admiring the surrounding greenery, the massive walls of a historic bastion, a vedette of the times of the Knights, the sea, and an enchanting infinity pool… There is ample space to stroll around and enjoy the whole experience. A few metres from the rushing tempo of Floriana and adjoining Valletta, there is this oasis of verdant calm and relaxation. The chairs, tables, and the very unusual canopy, are all in understated colours to blend perfectly with the voluminous limestone of the place.

The food on offer at the Bastion Restaurant is not just any other poolside fare. The team make sure that the food is fresh and appealing to anyone’s palate. The ingredients chosen, whenever possible, are local and sustainably grown. The food is Mediterranean and Asian fusion. The sushi and the poke bowls are beyond appetising, while the antipasto gives you a quick, nibble-style taste of Italy. The pasta is a pure treat, and the Hibachi BBQ grilled dishes add a distinctive and satisfying taste. It’s cool by the pool at the Bastion, where food, service and atmosphere are delightfully good.
