Palazzo Castelletti is a magnificent stately building from the 17th century situated a stone thrown away from the ancient capital of Mdina that promises an excellent dining experience for any occasion, from intimate dining to modern celebration venues nestled under the same roof. Stepping inside the restaurant one can admire the stately Maltese architecture and stone antiques flamboyant across all corners of the Palazzo, embraced within the modern renovations. A true case of renovations respecting the past but adding that contemporary touch.
From nearly all corners of Palazzo one may appreciate the beautiful open kitchen promoting the art of dining by the highlight talented chefs that provide a visual uplift and taste even before the food has touched your palate. The menu of this eclectic restaurant changes seasonally and uses an array of fresh ingredients being meat, poultry or fish based to create a fusion of European and Asian dishes. A number of must-try starters feature on the menu, including the Thai steamed mussels or their Mojito calamari cooked on open flame. For your mains, the pan seared butternut chicken, lamb shank or traditional slow-cooked rabbit are always a great selection. There’s also a selection of fine salads, pasta, homemade burgers and pizza which can be taken as both starters or mains. To end your meal, indulge in the decadent chocolate fondant.
Every time I visit this restaurant it is always a very nice experience. The ambiance, the characteristic of the place, the food prepared always to my taste, the professional attention of the staff and value for money. I really recommend San Andrea Restaurant.
