Gate of India

Patrons describe the food as "faultless", adding to the "lovely experience".

This is a truly unique Indian restaurant. Of course you’ve got the standard menu full of the usual suspects, but also an alternative Tapas style approach with an all you can eat price tag. This makes a fantastic opportunity to try numerous curries, side dishes and sizzling specials, all in smaller portions. The menu puts together the perfect mix of dishes with everything catered for vegetarians, vegans and halal diets, as well as any allergies and intolerances. The interior is calm and relaxed with a Raj feel and staff brilliantly on hand to assist with menu choices. There is also some seating outside, perhaps for a Kingfisher lager, aperitif or just a breath of fresh air.

It’s difficult to know what direction to go as the menu features many Indian classics. A great choice to start off with would be the South Indian Combo Platter, which includes bite-sized kastori chicken and lamb tikka, before moving on to your main dish. The Kastori Chicken, marinated with a turmeric and chili rub, is heavenly. Monthly specials and a choice of set menus are also available, taking out the conundrum of choice and pairing up starters, main course curries and rice for a truly authentic experience. There is also a kids’ menu available for the young diners.
