Lovage Bistro
Lovage Bistro offers a relaxed, welcoming setting that feels familiar and inviting from the moment you step inside. The interior is simple and comfortable, featuring a warm palette and shelves lined with an extensive display of wine bottles; a quiet indication that the restaurant enjoys guiding guests toward a good pairing and a good time. The overall atmosphere is unfussy and casual, striking a balance between neighbourhood charm and an evening-out feel. Tables are arranged to allow for conversation without crowding, making it suitable for both small groups and more intimate dinners. Service follows the same tone: friendly, approachable, and steady, without unnecessary formality. It is the kind of place where guests can settle in gently and enjoy their evening at an easy pace.
Chef Patron Matthew Schembri’s menu focuses on approachable dishes with a leaning toward comfort and generous portions. The battered prawn with wakame seaweed and chilli offers a light and pleasant beginning to the meal. The Carnaroli risotto with porcini mushrooms and parmesan shavings brings familiar, warming flavours in a satisfying presentation. For something more robust, the slow-cooked braised pork belly served with onion marmalade and jus offers a rich and tender main. To finish, guests can opt for classics such as coffee pannacotta or crème brûlée offering sweet notes to close the meal. Those wishing to linger may end with a ħarruba (carob) liqueur from Gozo served on ice, adding a thoughtful local touch to the experience.
