Shakinah restaurant’s stylish and modern location at Ta’ Xbiex seafront captures the essence of modern dining in Malta. Owners Alex and Berta are quintessential hosts, and their warm and engaging welcome is testament to the care and nourishment they bestow on their new and cherished clientele. the warm light and soft seating coupled with elegant mirrored walls and marble bar area is all carefully considered and inviting. serving staff are efficient, polite and knowledgeable.
Traditionalists will be delighted to find faithful Indian dishes as well as some surprising new options. try the mushrooms stuffed with minced vegetables and onions, served on a sizzling platter and the chat pata jhinga – king prawns marinated in a selection of medium strength spices, tossed in gram (chickpea) our and deep fried are perfect for diners on a gluten free diet. they also have a special vegan menu with plenty of options. the tandoor selection features pahadi kebabs of tender chicken pieces marinated in yoghurt, fresh mint, garlic, ginger and coriander. the vinegar marinated lamb vindaloo from the curry section will be a shot as you can take it and the meat is tender and juicy. naan bread, a choice of rice sides and roti are all fresh and tasty. there’s a great cocktail selection including Mumbai mango mojito, Shakinah’s signature masala sour and a well-curated wine list. Shakinah’s passion for flavour is not to be missed.
