Verbena Wine & Dine
Verbena is a quiet little local restaurant nestled among houses right next to the Zebbiegh church. Its humble appearance contrasts with the exquisitely presented food creations lovingly concocted by the passionate chef owner. A large, fully stocked bar boasting a substantial display of fine single malts oversees the whole restaurant. Comfy sofas line a wall at the entrance and another wall showcases an extensive selection of wines; there is also a full enticing wine display cabinet. Tables are well spaced out and toned-down familiar tunes sound in the background.
Verbena is all about homemade and home grown with an emphasis on genuine portions of what is in season – flavour is key here, as is the truly artful plating! Try the roasted red pepper and zucchini dip with warm bread. Spoil yourself with the indulgent sheep ricotta gnocchi in a cream sauce topped with fresh coriander and mint leaves, or the succulent beef cheek crespelle in rich sauce drizzled with local extra virgin olive oil. Next try the delicate fish served with cherry tomato and herb salsa with matchstick carrots, cauliflower, courgette and olives adorned with fresh dill, rucola and mint or try the tasty pan seared duck breast and a pulled pork spring roll accompanied by roast potatoes. For dessert enjoy the fig crumble cake with milk and honey ice-cream, or the espresso and Baileys semifreddo drizzled with golden honey from their own bees.
