Churchill’s Bar and Restaurant

Situated at the water’s edge in picturesque Xlendi Bay, the Churchill offers unobstructed sea views and good quality casual eating for breakfast, lunch or dinner, welcoming locals and visitors whether you are alone or with a large party.  Established by her grandfather as a fisherman’s bar, owner and manager Rosie prides herself as the 3rd generation in the family business having nurtured it from her youth into the restaurant of today. She is also ably assisted by her friendly staff.

Covered seating outside, or inside in the chic contemporary cave under glittering chandeliers,  diners may enjoy traditional Gozitan food such as aljotta fish soup or spaghetti biz-zalza tal fenek (spaghetti served with rabbit sauce), followed by imqaret (sweet pastry stuffed with dates). Alternatively, there is a large variety of Mediterranean dishes – or you may prefer the recently introduced concept of cooking your own choice of meat at your table on a lava stone grill.  As with the majority of main courses this is accompanied by vegetables with roast potatoes, or chips with salad. Specials are seasonal and typically include pumpkin soup, pork fillet stuffed with gammon and pistachio, and local fish such as grilled lampuki.  The zuppa di cozze is highly recommended if you love mussels, and all the delicious deserts are freshly made in-house.  Families are welcomed with children, who have their own selection of dishes to choose from. The wine list is varied and complemented by aperitifs, champagne and beer.
