On a terrace in Rabat just off Saqqajja Square, Step 15 overlooks a wonderful vista of open space. Inside, Step 15 is a haven of warmth and food artistry. The place is cosy, offering a feeling of intimacy and serenity. Seating is comfortable and a small side table is conveniently placed next to the diners to accommodate the wine, oil and cruets. The décor is elegant, with the bar and its bottles reminiscent of a still life painting.
Yet all the best details in the world count for nothing unless the food is as spectacular. This is where Sandro Vella, chef patron at Step 15, shines. His food is a delight. Sandro prepares a good feast but all in a delicate way. The produce used is fresh and portion size just right. For flavour with a twist try the crisped octopus, the creamy burrata with fresh local figs and walnuts or the rabbit and ale tortellacci. The Frenched milk fed veal cutlet is cooked to perfection. Vegetarians are well catered for with a number of tasty dishes available. To finish off, indulge in one of the sweets or a light sorbet. Service at Step 15 comes with a smile and diners will surely enjoy the treatment they receive, the atmosphere and the fare they revel in.
